Superstitions

Now in CRITICAL LITERACY subject,  i have to choose and write about the SUPERSTITIONS. No doubt, there are enormous superstitions among the world that can i choose. However, i would like to choose the Malaysians superstitions because i believe some of us especially the youth is not familiar with our own superstitions.

With the superstitions that i had choose, there are also the LEFT BRAIN HEMISPHERE and RIGHT BRAIN HEMISPHERE. In simple words, left brain thinking is to criticize while the right brain thinking is for defend.

In Malay culture, there are two superstitions that i had choose :

1)IF A LADY SINGS WHILE COOKING, SHE WILL DESTINED TO MARRY AN OLD MAN.

CRITICIZE  (Left Brain Thinking)

 

• This superstitions is ridiculous. This kind of action cannot determined someone’s  life because only God can determine someone’s life and death.
•   This superstitions is not relevant because this action do not have any effect that can cause the lady to marry the old man.

EMPHATIC (Right Brain Thinking

• This superstitions is used for a mother to avoid a daughter from do any mistakes while cooking  and in addition, this superstitions also can avoid a daughters from being hurt.
•   This superstitions is relevant because it is not appropriate to a girls or a women to sing in the kitchen.

2) A LADY CANNOT CHANGE PLACES DURING MEALS OR SHE WOULD REMARRY MANY TIMES IN HER LIFE.

CRITICIZE  (Left Brain Thinking)

•    When changes places during meals cannot changed someone’s life because this kind of action does not have any ‘magic’ or superpower to make the lady remarry in her life.
•     If the lady truly remarry in her life, it is because of God’s will because everything that happened in the lady’s life is determined by God.

EMPHATIC (Right Brain Thinking)

•   This superstitions is relevant because it can teach the lady that it is not a good behavior to a lady changes places while she is eating and therefore, it is not be accepted in Malay’s culture

• This superstitions is also relevant. It can avoid the places being dirty because of fall food from the plate while the lady changes places.

Rule of Ten

What is exactly RULES OF TEN?? At the first time, i do not have any idea what is meaning of it, however after asked from the seniors and my friends, i quite understand it. RULES OF TEN is actually a method of elements that important in critical literacy subject. in simple words it is a ten method that we used in critical literacy essay. Now, i have to create my own mnemonic based of this method. What is the method and my own mnemonic?Lets begin..

Eureka

What is Eureka ??? when i heard that, the first thing that come out from my mind is maybe it’s a someone’s name or  maybe a television show or maybe any diseases!. However,Eureka is actually a synergistic or holistic moment and ‘eureka’ is first quoted by Archmides.  Besides, it also means that  ‘I found it’..Lets began my experience of Eureka moments and this story is all about FRIENDSHIP. Before this, i have a friend that i do not want to mentioned her/his name and what can i say is we are really closed. But everything that happened between me and he/ she  had totally changed my perception towards FRIENDSHIP and really shocking me. From the physical view, he/she seems really nice and good person but unfortunately, he/she is a different person behind my back. Moreover,  i think he/she is one of my good friends and suddenly,  one day i know that behind me, he/she tells everyone that i ‘m really a bad girl and i think some people have bad perseption towards me. Of course, i shocked!!!!OMG!! and (eureka)‘ooooooooo’ ; )...he/ she tell everyone that i’m really and really bad and always bully he/ she and everyone seems sympathy for him/her. Then, i’m just waiting and want to see what is happened next. Later, some of my friends know about it and everything had been settled. Actually, i really can’t think any reasons why he/she behave like this and honestly, i’m really mad of it. But in positive thinking,  this had changed my perceptions and attitudes to my friends because of that,now i became more careful and really hard to believe my own friends. Well, at least, he/ she had give me a great experience in my life and taught me  ‘something’ worth to me.

Hai,  let’s me introduce myself first..I’m Yasmin bt Shukri and i’m a students in Mara Professional  College Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, Pahang. Now, i’m studying in Diploma In English Communication courses (sem 4) and this is my academic blog for one of my subject, Critical Literacy and it is created as one of my assesment that had given from my lecturer, Sir Kamaaziz.
